Can a dose of Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) be split into smaller doses?
Dose splitting is not recommended for Mounjaro because each presentation has been designed and tested to deliver a prespecified dose.

Can a Mounjaro dose be divided into multiple doses?
The Mounjaro Instructions for Use do not provide instructions for administering a dose less than the full fixed dose.1-4 Please follow the approved Instructions for Use for proper storage, handling, and administration of Mounjaro.1-4
Eli Lilly and Company cannot make any recommendations on splitting a tirzepatide dose to make smaller or multiple doses because this has not been studied. Each presentation has been designed and tested to deliver pre-specified dose(s) as described in the approved Instructions for Use.1-4
Lilly has not studied splitting of Mounjaro multiple-dose pen (KwikPen) or multiple-dose vial into smaller doses. Therefore, there is no efficacy and safety information available on this topic.5
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), medicines designated as single-dose are for a single injection in a single patient.5
Splitting of a single-dose medicine into smaller doses may increase risks of contamination.5
