Can Foundayo™ (orforglipron) be used in patients with previous weight loss surgery?
Orforglipron has not been studied in participants who had a prior or planned surgical treatment or procedure for obesity. Lilly cannot provide recommendations on the use of orforglipron in people who have undergone a surgery or procedure for obesity.

Orforglipron Use in People With Weight Loss Surgeries
In the orforglipron phase 3 studies in adults with obesity or overweight, ATTAIN-1 and ATTAIN-2, participants were excluded if they had a prior or planned
- surgical treatment or procedure for obesity performed within 1 year prior to screening, or
- endoscopic (for example, mucosal ablation or gastric artery embolization) and/or device-based (for example, lap band, intragastric balloon, or duodenal-jejunal endoluminal liner) therapy for obesity.1,2
Participants were allowed to participate in clinical trials if
- they had liposuction, abdominoplasty, or cryolipolysis >1 year prior to screening, or
- device removal was >180 days prior to screening.1,2
Eli Lilly and Company cannot provide a recommendation on whether to use orforglipron in a patient who has undergone a prior weight loss surgery or procedure. The treating physician may use
- the information provided
- the patient’s prior medical history and concomitant medications, and
- other individual factors in developing a treatment plan.
The treating physician should consider potential risks and benefits of treatment options and monitor appropriately.
