Can OLUMIANT® (baricitinib) dose be reduced in pediatric alopecia areata while maintaining treatment response?
A downtitration substudy has not been performed in pediatric patients with alopecia areata to evaluate the effect of dose reduction on maintenance of treatment response.

What clinical trial evidence is available on baricitinib dose reduction in pediatric alopecia areata?
No subgroup analysis has been conducted to evaluate the effect of baricitinib dose reduction on treatment response in the BRAVE-AA-PEDS clinical trial.1
The efficacy of downtitration in adult patients who achieved an adequate response was evaluated in the BRAVE-AA2 downtitration substudy.2,3
Clinical decisions regarding continuation, downtitration, interruption, or reinitiation of baricitinib therapy in pediatric alopecia areata should be based on the treating clinician’s judgment, taking into account disease severity, treatment response, and the overall benefit-risk profile for the patient.
