Can patients taking Foundayo™ (orforglipron) have grapefruit?
There is no information related to drug interaction between orforglipron and grapefruit included in the prescribing information.
See important safety information, including boxed warning, in the attached prescribing information.
Does Grapefruit Interact With Orforglipron?
Orforglipron is metabolized primarily via hepatic cytochrome P3A4 (CYP3A4) to several oxidative metabolites.1
Grapefruit juice is a potent inhibitor of intestinal CYP3A4 and is considered to be a moderate inhibitor by the FDA due to its variable systemic exposure. It contains furanocoumarins that cause inhibition of intestinal CYP3A4. It does not meaningfully inhibit hepatic CYP3A4 at dietary exposures.2-4
Therefore, eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice is not included in the Foundayo prescribing information related to drug interactions.1
