Can the Zepbound® (tirzepatide) vial be split into smaller doses?
Splitting of a tirzepatide vial into smaller doses is not recommended. The tirzepatide vial does not contain a preservative and is for single-dose use.

Splitting of Tirzepatide Single-Dose Vial
Splitting a dose of tirzepatide from a vial into smaller doses is not recommended.
The tirzepatide vial does not contain a preservative.1 It should be injected as soon as the needle is pushed through the rubber stopper and the solution is removed from the vial.2
Throw away all opened vials after use, even if there is medicine left in the vial.2
The tirzepatide vial is for single-dose use.1
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), vials designated as single-dose are for a single injection in a single patient.3
Splitting of a single-dose vial into smaller doses may increase risks of vial contamination.3
Eli Lilly and Company has not studied splitting of tirzepatide vial into smaller doses. Therefore, there is no efficacy and safety information available on this topic.
