FORTEO® (teriparatide injection) is not available as a pill formulation.
Overview
Teriparatide is not available in pill form because it is a small protein, also called a peptide.
If given by mouth, such molecules are broken down in the stomach and gut, and will therefore be destroyed before they reach the bloodstream.
