Eye-Related Adverse Events
The current US Mounjaro (tirzepatide) prescribing information does not describe or include data regarding reports of eye-related adverse events in patients using tirzepatide.1
At the time of review, to the extent there was data available on eye-related adverse events from the tirzepatide clinical trials and postmarketing experience, it did not meet labelling criteria for clinical significance, causality to the drug, or relevance to patient safety and treatment decisions.
Patient safety is Eli Lilly and Company’s top priority and we actively engage in evaluating, monitoring, and reporting safety information for all our medicines. If new information indicates a new safety concern or signal for the product or the class, including postmarketing experience, the local labelling will be properly updated in alignment with regulatory authorities.
Lilly recognize that publications on this safety topic may exist in scientific literature. Publications authored by independent individuals or groups employing different research methodologies, may be subject to varying scientific rigor and interpretations. We encourage the prescribing healthcare provider to exercise clinical judgement to obtain and evaluate external literature for sound scientific merit, clinical relevance, and generalizability.
