Who is developing mazdultide and for which potential indications?

Mazdutide is being studied for the treatment of obesity and alcohol use disorder at Lilly.

Mazdutide indications and studies

Mazdutide is a mammalian oxyntomodulin (OXM) analogue that acts as a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1)/glucagon (GCG) receptor dual agonist. It is being studied for the treatment of obesity and alcohol use disorder at Eli Lilly and Company.

In 2018, Lilly entered into an exclusive license agreement with Innovent Biologics for the development and potential commercialization of mazdutide in China. We are encouraged to see the progress Innovent has made in advancing mazdutide and achieving regulatory approval in China. Lilly retains the rights to develop mazdutide outside of China and continues to advance its clinical development globally.

  • For more information about Lilly’s clinical trials for mazdutide, please visit https://www.clinicaltrials.gov.

  • For specific questions related to the development and commercialization of mazdutide in China, we refer you to Innovent Biologics.

Mazdutide data show the potential benefits of glucagon partnered with GLP-1.

Mazdutide is one of several incretin assets in Lilly’s portfolio, and continue to evaluate development opportunities for mazdutide outside of China. Decisions on the best applications of mazdutide including those related to obesity and other indications will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of all relevant data from ongoing studies across the Lilly portfolio.
