Transporting the device from the pharmacy

Patients have 5 days available to store Taltz unrefrigerated at a temperature not above 30 °C.1 These 5 days may be broken up into multiple exposures (see section Patients only:) and may be used to take Taltz home from the pharmacy.

When for example, transport takes 1 hour, patients will still have another 4 days and 23 hours available to store Taltz at a temperature not above 30 °C.2

Storage conditions for patients travelling with ixekizumab

  • Store Taltz in a refrigerator (2 ºC – 8 ºC).
  • Do not freeze.
  • Store in the original package to protect it from light.1

Patients only:

Taltz may be stored unrefrigerated for up to 5 days at a temperature not above 30 ºC.1

The allowable room temperature storage time may be one single 5-day exposure or can be broken up into multiple exposures. There is no limit to the number of room temperature exposures as long as the total time does not exceed 5 days (120 hours) for each individual device.2

Travel cooler bags

Eli Lilly and Company does not provide cooler bags to travel with Ixekizumab. Patients can refer to their pharmacist about finding a suitable product. Lilly does not test, market or sell these products; therefore, we cannot recommend any of them.2

When using a cooler bag, the device should not be in direct contact with ice, frozen gel packs or freezing temperatures (0°C or below). In addition, protect the medicine from light and freezing temperatures.2

Air travel and security check

When travelling on a plane:

  • Ixekizumab should be kept in carry-on luggage. Do not pack in checked luggage. Luggage hold areas may be too cold or too hot.
  • Changes in altitude that may be experienced when travelling do not impact the dose accuracy of Ixekizumab.
  • The screening equipment used at airports (X-rays) is not known to affect Ixekizumab.2

Customs

At customs, patients should be prepared to explain why they are carrying their medicines.2

Patients travelling internationally need to check with the authorities in the country of destination about any rules and restrictions they may have for people travelling with medicines, especially if the destination is outside European Union.2
