Introduction to Connected Insulin Pens (CIPs)

A CIP automatically captures insulin delivery data, such as the timing and dose given, and sends the information to a compatible smartphone application. CIP technologies currently include reusable smart pens, smart buttons, and smart caps that attach to a disposable, prefilled insulin pen.

The data captured within a patient’s CIP smartphone app may be reviewed on a healthcare professional platform, allowing the integration of insulin data from the CIP and glucose data from a continuous glucose monitor or blood glucose meter.
