Overview

KRAS G12C Is a Unique Suspect in NSCLC That Challenges Our Conventional Thinking

Doughnut graph showing 38% progress to second-line
KRAS G12C is different from other oncogenic drivers. Although long considered undruggable, novel approaches have led to the development of targeted therapies, which are currently approved only as monotherapy in the second line (2L).1-5 KRAS G12C is associated with poor prognosis in lung cancer.6 Of patients who receive first line (1L) treatment, only 38% patients advance to 2L.7

These educational resources provide an understanding of how KRAS G12C is different from other oncogenic drivers and other KRAS variants, the role of the mutated KRAS G12C in tumor formation and survival, and how these insights can be leveraged to care for patients with KRAS G12C–mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

1L = first line; 2L = second line; KRAS = Kirsten rat sarcoma; NSCLC = non-small cell lung cancer.
