Supporting Resources

This page is part of a larger communication toolkit which provides general advice and best practices around communication of Alzheimer's disease (AD) in clinical practice.

About 1 in 9 people age 65 and older (10.8%) have Alzheimer’s disease.1

The risk of dementia increases with advancing age. Since the population of Americans age 65 and older is projected to grow from 58 million in 2021 to 88 million by 2050, the number and proportion of Americans with Alzheimer's disease is also projected to grow.1

With the prevalence of AD increasing, clear information about the disease, care partner resources, and available clinical trials needs to be easily accessible and understandable. Ideally, written and face-to-face information would be given by informed and trusted healthcare providers.2
